If Mike & Eleven Got Married | A Stranger Things Wedding

This styled shoot has been my brain child for the past 2 years, it’s almost unreal to see it all finished before me. After trying to make a Stranger Things wedding shoot happen for the past couple years, I’m beyond excited we finally managed to bring it to life this past October! The idea came to me after watching season 2 of Stranger Things when Mike and Eleven kissed at the Snow Ball (spoiler alert)-- the wedding photographer in me started dreaming… what if Mike and Eleven got married some day?? What would that look like, 10-15 years down the road? What foods would the eat? What would they wear? What kind of florals they have? Where would it take place? I had a very specific vision in mind during the brainstorming process, so gathering a tiny team of like-minded wedding vendors who also happened to be die-hard fans of the show was a no-brainer.

While I did a large sum of the styling + DIY myself, I also had a fantastic team that pulled together some of the most important details to a T. Alisa Wismer Design created the most EPIC invitation suit— from the hand drawn map of Hawkins including allllllll the details only the true fans would get, “Should I STAY or should I GO” rsvp, an invite that can be read from multiple directions, and even a demogorgan stamp. She even designed and made original “Friends don’t lie” pins as wedding favors (and can also be seen pinned on Mike’s lapel). Snacky French made the cutest Eggo cake, (fit for non other than Eleven herself), which we topped with fresh berries and tied in with the waffle bar (because c’mon, what other food would Mike + Eleven be eating?) which came together beautifully with deep cherry wooden furniture from Vintage Kissed Rentals. While Mike + Eleven don’t strike me as a couple who would have a ton of florals on their wedding day, the few pieces we did have were inspired by The Upside-down— dead and dark with pops of red lilies, reminiscent of a demogorgan when it opens it’s mouth. I styled Mike’s outfit based off what he wore at The Snow Ball, and Eleven’s is styled around her iconic outfit in season 1. Oh, and don’t forget to watch the amazing behind-the-scenes video (at the very end of this post ) from Kristian Golick films, where I go more in depth about the making of the shoot— from the REAL demogorgan-destroying bat, to the iconic living room scene photobooth, and how I transformed real couple Sarah + Eric into the Hawkins thriving, demogorgan chasing, Upside-down adventuring Mike + Eleven we all know and love.

While most styled shoots are created to inspire future brides and draw in vendors dream clients, I’m proud to say the purpose behind this shoot was neither of those things. I dreamed and created this shoot purely to pay homage to all the fans who know and love the show— for all the people that can look through these photos and SEE Stranger Things in all the little details we worked so hard on, and to help them live out that fantasy of “what if Mike + Eleven got married someday?”.
